At a great venue at Sports City Stadium and with a fine playing surface both sides produced some lovely fluent football. The Foxes hit the woodwork twice in the first 5 minutes with a Jo Potter free-kick cannoning off the post and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk followed up to also hit the post, but Leicester's keeper, Leanne Hall, made a fine save to deny the Blue's Lindsey Savage to go in level at half-time.
The game opened up in the second period, and it was the Foxes who broke the deadlock when Maz Gauntlett headed home a fine cross by Natasha Meade on 69 minutes, but the Citizens drew level in the 77th minute when Becky Grocott headed home after keeper Hall had deflected a save onto the upright. A minute later the Foxes restored their lead when Zira Handley got to the bye line to cross for the skipper, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, to smash home, and in the 82nd minute Meade settled it for the Foxes when she drilled home from 25 yards.
